Could we be any more behind the curve? Yes we now FINALLY have both a youtube (http://www.youtube.com/subsoniqradio) and a Facebook page (just type in “Subsoniq” in the search box and you’ll see our logo show up). If you want to stay up to date on what is happening with the show and complete progressive hip hop movement across the Sirius XM dial drop us a comment or add us as a friend.

R.I.P. The Rhyme

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008

The Rhyme (formerly Ch.65 on XM Radio) has been discontinued as a result of the merger with Sirius. Backspin (formerly ch.43 on Sirius) also did not make the cut. This leaves the merged company with absolutely NO classic hip hop channel. The genre and the channel will be greatly missed by us here at Subsoniq (this also means the end of Subsoniq Classix).

If interested, below is a link for a petition started by subscribers to help reinstate The Rhyme and RAW.

Subsoniq Classix w/DJ Deeper

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

Wed. 11/6 6pm et, Sunday 11/10 6pm et (The Rhyme ch.65 Direct TV 845)

Longtime Rhyme resident DJ Deeper is at the helm this week. Even though he will be mixing during the Subsoniq Classix timeslot, look for a lot of new gems from him in this week’s set. Its probably been a year or two since XMers have been able to hear a mix from Deeper, so we are really looking forward to seeing what he brings this week. Look for it exclusively on Subsoniq Classix. You can find more info and download links for Deeper’s mixes right here: http://www.myspace.com/djdeeper

Q-Tip on Subsoniq (XMU)

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

Monday 10/20 10pm et, Tuesday 10/21 2pm et on (XMU ch.43, Direct TV 843)

This week longtime Native Tongue affiliate and founding member of A Tribe Called Quest, Q-Tip, stops through Subsoniq to chop it up with Doc and KB! He is also joined by fellow Native Tongue lady Monie Love, as they speak on the current VH1 Hip Hop Honors. Tip also gives his thoughts on what has happened to the diversity in hip hop, gives the definitive answer on if Tribe will get back together, his memories and thoughts on the late great J Dilla, and what we can expect from his newest album “The Renaissance” dropping on election day!

Focus on Panacea/Q-Tip/Z-Trip>Obama

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

Sunday (11/2) 9pm et, Tuesday (11/24) 9 am et on RAW (ch.66, Direct TV 846)

November 4th is a huge day for both hip hop and our country in general. We elect our new president that day, the long awaited Q-Tip album drops, and all those who ordered the new Panacea album for October 28th finally get it delivered to them! (ha ha…a lil jab there folks). So in light of all these things going on over the next few days, we decided to split the show accordingly. The first hour Raw Poetic and K-Murdock (aka Panacea) sit down with KB and give some background on the making of the new album and pick out individual favs from it. We will also give a ten minute sampling of the new Q-Tip album “The Renaissance”, and allow Z-Trip to take over the last hour of the show with his recently released Obama Tribute Mix. For more background info on this mix, and to download it yourself check: http://www.djztrip.com/obama/

Subsoniq Classix - Politics/Change

Monday, October 20th, 2008

Sunday 10/25 6pm et, Wed. 10/28 6pm et, (The Rhyme ch.65 Direct TV 845)

With the election less than two weeks out, the Subsoniq Crew decided to sit down and select some tracks that had to do with politics and change (in any form). Artists on the show range from Dead Prez to the Boogiemonsters, Saul Williams to De La Soul, and everything in between. We tried not to be too preachy on the show (besides you all know we pretty much support Obama across the board) but this week seemed appropriate we embrace the theme. Don’t forget to VOTE November 4th!
