Monday, November 10th, 2008

Subsoniq now has a youtube channel! Come check us out at http://www.youtube.com/subsoniqradio

The above video spawned from on-air bet during Subsoniq in 2007 and features a basketball game between K-Murdock and Raw Poetic (who make up the group Panacea).  DJ Deeper films and has commentary and KB refs. Be sure to check out the Air Ball Intermission uploaded as a different video on the youtube site http://www.youtube.com/subsoniqradio . Highlights in this video include the pre-game, halftime (at 4:50), the infamous spill (at 7:14) and the post-game (at 8:42)

Also available on the youtube site are a few video highlights from the Q-Tip interview that aired on Subsoniq last month. Look for more video highlights, audio treats, and an overall new visual element becoming an essential part of the show. Big thanks to PC, Deuce, and Alex for their hard work.

Monday 11/10 10pm et, Tuesday 11/11 2pm et on (XMU ch.43, Direct TV 843)

How did Subsoniq start? Whose idea was it to include a progressive hip hop show on satellite radio? Who were the original hosts? Which channel originally threw major support behind the show and got it on the satellite platform? What early artists showed love to the show and helped the show get its feet? What role did it play in creating Panacea? All of this and much more are answered in this week’s show!  Subsoniq welcomes one of the original creators of show (Josh aka J Kannizle) into the studio for an in-depth look at the history of the show, the music it supports, and what the future holds. Focus on Panacea/Q-Tip/Z-Trip>Obama

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

Sunday (11/2) 9pm et, Tuesday (11/24) 9 am et on RAW (ch.66, Direct TV 846)

November 4th is a huge day for both hip hop and our country in general. We elect our new president that day, the long awaited Q-Tip album drops, and all those who ordered the new Panacea album for October 28th finally get it delivered to them! (ha ha…a lil jab there folks). So in light of all these things going on over the next few days, we decided to split the show accordingly. The first hour Raw Poetic and K-Murdock (aka Panacea) sit down with KB and give some background on the making of the new album and pick out individual favs from it. We will also give a ten minute sampling of the new Q-Tip album “The Renaissance”, and allow Z-Trip to take over the last hour of the show with his recently released Obama Tribute Mix. For more background info on this mix, and to download it yourself check: http://www.djztrip.com/obama/

Panacea/Subsoniq members featured on Current TV

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

Above is a short documentary (airing on Current TV) on the MPC by Gabe Uhr. It features K-Murdock (of Panacea and Subsoniq), Damu (of Y Society), and Patrick Fritz (guitarist for Panacea and RPM). The short video is narrated by Raw Poetic (emcee of Panacea, and guest host of Subsoniq)

Short synopsis below:
“The MPC has moved from the studio to the stage and all kinds of performers, from rockers to rappers to classicly trained musicians, are utilizing its beat making abilities. One MC will take us through the MPC transformation, as we see, hear and talk to different kind of musicians, and even non-musicians, who are making this technology the oldest newest trend in music making.”

Lots going on

Sunday (9/28) 9pm et, Tuesday (9/30) 9 am et on RAW (ch.66, Direct TV 846)

Its been a busy week for the Subsoniq Crew… K-Murdock was in a beat battle earlier this week (Red Bull’s Big Tune), Jake One and Vitamin D came through the studio (to be aired next week), and we got a new timeslot during the morning drive on Tuesdays! So we figured for this week’s show we would celebrate by gathering the crew together (special guest DJ Woody Wood), make fools of ourselves on the mics and just play some good progressive hip hop. Look for new music from Jake One, DJ K.O., Murs, People Under the Stairs, Heltah Skeltah, Supastition, DJ Revolution, and the radio premier of two exclusive tracks from the upcoming Panacea album “A Mind on a Ship Through Time”.
