The Rhyme (formerly Ch.65 on XM Radio) has been discontinued as a result of the merger with Sirius. Backspin (formerly ch.43 on Sirius) also did not make the cut. This leaves the merged company with absolutely NO classic hip hop channel. The genre and the channel will be greatly missed by us here at Subsoniq (this also means the end of Subsoniq Classix).
If interested, below is a link for a petition started by subscribers to help reinstate The Rhyme and RAW.

Monday 11/10 10pm et, Tuesday 11/11 2pm et on (XMU ch.43, Direct TV 843)
How did Subsoniq start? Whose idea was it to include a progressive hip hop show on satellite radio? Who were the original hosts? Which channel originally threw major support behind the show and got it on the satellite platform? What early artists showed love to the show and helped the show get its feet? What role did it play in creating Panacea? All of this and much more are answered in this week’s show! Subsoniq welcomes one of the original creators of show (Josh aka J Kannizle) into the studio for an in-depth look at the history of the show, the music it supports, and what the future holds. Check it out this week exclusively on XMU (ch.43, Direct TV 843)!

Wed. 11/6 6pm et, Sunday 11/10 6pm et (The Rhyme ch.65 Direct TV 845)
Longtime Rhyme resident DJ Deeper is at the helm this week. Even though he will be mixing during the Subsoniq Classix timeslot, look for a lot of new gems from him in this week’s set. Its probably been a year or two since XMers have been able to hear a mix from Deeper, so we are really looking forward to seeing what he brings this week. Look for it exclusively on Subsoniq Classix. You can find more info and download links for Deeper’s mixes right here: http://www.myspace.com/djdeeper

Sunday 10/5 6pm et, Wed. 10/7 6pm et, (The Rhyme ch.65 Direct TV 845)
So if you are a John McCain supporter we are guessing this mix may not quite inspire you as much as it does Obama supporters. Its very apparent to us that the vast majority of progressive hip hop artists are showing their support for Obama (or) a third party candidate this year. Our show covers the music those progressive artists make, and we never shy away from politics on the show.
Its rare that someone can infuse politics and music in such a unique way as Z-Trip does on this tribute. If your a fan of hip hop, reggae, rock, soul music and anything in between we think you’ll dig this. The mix also features Barack’s thoughts on a wide variety of topics, including hip hop. He has embraced the culture and the culture has embraced him.
