This week, Pitch Control welcomes the ever-consistent sample-based producer Joe Beats to the show.  Widely recognized for the signature sound first heard nearly a decade ago as one half of the Non-Prophets duo, recent years have seen Joe’s focus shift to a number of solo releases.  In a time of global musical influence when your favorite artist switches style on a whim, this Providence, Rhode Island native takes it all in stride and keeps crafting the sample-laced gems that have magnetized ears for years.  Tune in to Pitch Control this week as Joe Beats reflects back and shines some light on his past works and influences.

Subsoniq Classix: The Lost Albums

Remember that album you so eagerly anticipated, only come to find out it was shelved by the record label for years… ! And then one day, you found a bootleg copy OR maybe some small indie label figured out a way to officially release it OR maybe it is still shelved to this day and only a select few are in possession of it. This week’s Subsoniq Classix is all about those songs and albums, from INI’s “Center of Attention” to KMD’s “Black Bastards” to Nas’s “Lost Tapes”. Time to dust off the shelves and discover the gems….
